Our Rooms

As a lovingly preserved historic building, The Gold Arm retains much of its original character and charm. Please note that this also means we do not have an elevator, and guest rooms are accessible by stairs only. In keeping with our boutique, self-guided experience, we also do not have a traditional front desk—but our team is always just a message away and ready to assist before, during, and after your stay.

About us

Golden Arm is modeled in the classic European tradition of an Urban Inn. We believe that travel should be an opportunity to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with yourself. By design, we provide a self-sufficient, independent experience for the modern traveler.

To protect the peace of our guests, we have intentionally omitted telephones and televisions from our rooms. We don’t offer 24-hour reception or bellman services; instead, we offer a private, serene, and "clean-living" environment where your privacy is our priority.

4. 7-star rating with 124 reviews. Four full gold stars and one half-filled gold star.
Five black stars.

Great stay recently at The Ruby Room! Very easy check in by text. Still felt safe and secure for my entire stay. Prompt feedback via text for any questions I had during my stay. As a woman traveling alone, safety ,security and good communication are things I look for in a booking. I will definitely be a returning customer. Well appointed room and well appointed shared kitchen on the same floor. The location of The Ruby Room is ideal. Close to public transport and within easy walking to lots of shops and restaurants(Wicker Park). 10 out of 10!

Five black stars in a row, indicating a high rating or review.

Such a great place and location.  Beautifully decorated and outfitted room and bathroom, with access to full kitchen with coffeemaker.  Convenient to the Blue line and bus service.  Michelin star Italian restaurant right across the street, and morning coffee and eats available at Hey Day and also Station Brew (wrong name?- near the fire house).  Only warning is for the narrow and steep stairwell, but that's typical in this age of town. Will definitely reccomend and stay here again!

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay. There’s no elevator, but that shouldn’t stop you from staying here. The rooms are really nice and ours was very clean. Bed was super comfortable. Parking may be the only issue since it’s in an area with some limited free parking and mostly pay-by-the-hour parking. So get there with plenty of time to search for parking if your arrival is on a weekend. They were very accommodating when we needed to change rooms due to my partner’s recent knee surgery. They also offer late checkout which also helped a bunch. My gal and I both agreed we’d definitely stay there again.

Five black stars on a white background.

Such a lovely stay! It’s a little bit of a walk up to the room on fourth floor room (no elevator), but it’s worth it for the sweet view of the skyline and the garden. The room itself is very cozy and clean. LOTS of stuff around - I ended up finding some of my favorite vintage shops in the area. This will probably be one of my go-to hotels in Chicago.
